In 1895, SGM produced its first foreign language title: John’s Gospel in Arabic. Since then, we have gone on to produce Bible literature in over 1,000 different languages.
One if five of those has been a ‘pioneer’ language – a language that has never had any Bible content translated before.
The photo on the left shows two native speakers of Kaiwa, a minority language spoken by around 30,000 people in Paraguay, Argentina and the far south of Brazil. They are reading stories from the Gospels from an SGM Lifewords booklet called Jesus Christ has Power to Save. Working in partnership with SIL/Wycliffe, this booklet has been translated into dozens of languages across South America, Africa, and the Pacific.
We continue to work with missionaries, churches, and partner Bible agencies to bring the Word of God to people in their own heart language. As part of our Global Bible Resource initiative, we also strive to maintain a range of resources in 25 key languages, available to order from anywhere in the world.
