125 anniversary event
On Friday 15th March, hundreds of people came together at Westminster Chapel to celebrate our 125th anniversary.
The main programme included a keynote talk from George Verwer, videos showing SGM Lifewords‘ work around the world, and updates and prayers from international staff. The event ended with a rendition of the hymn I Cannot Tell, with an added verse written for the occasion. It was sung by Sam Parker, and a painting called The Tree of Life by Alison Berrett was unveiled as the song was performed.
Visitors stayed on after the presentation to share lunch together and to browse an exhibition of images and artefacts from SGM‘s history. The exhibition included some of the earliest SGM publications, a wall of photos from the archives, and items from the Young Sower’s League. You can view some of the exhibition online.
SGM Lifewords staff from around the world gathered for the event, lending proceedings an international flavour. A staff conference was then held over the weekend, where they celebrated together, and shared news, and ideas for the future.
