“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 (NIV)
- As we celebrate Jesus’ birth, please pray for the outreach events that are happening near you. Pray that people will have the opportunity to reflect on the meaning of Christmas, and the identity of Jesus. “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favour with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High … his kingdom will never end.” (Luke 1:30-33, NIV)
- The Christmas story will be told in all kinds of ways in these next few days – from Twitter (join us at www.twitter.com/SGM_Lifewords), to school plays; and a BBC prime time drama, to local church services. Pray that wherever it’s told, the story will have impact, giving glory to God and enabling people to recognise Christ. “When they saw the star, they were overjoyed … they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshipped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” (Matthew 2:10-11, NIV)
- Tens of thousands of SGM Lifewords booklets (and downloads) have now been ordered for Christmas – and we pray already put to good use in sharing God’s Word in local communities in the UK, continental Europe, Canada, East Africa, Australia, and Latin America. Please continue to pray for the impact of this work, making the good news known. “The angel said …’Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” (Luke 2:10-11, NIV)
