Fortunately, the story didn’t end with Adam and Eve. God had an amazing rescue plan worked out. He spoke to an old man called Abram, and made this promise:
Then the Lord told Abram, “Leave your country, your relatives, and your father’s house, and go to the land that I will show you. I will cause you to become the father of a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and I will make you a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you.” Gen 12:1-3 (NLT)
That was a pretty big promise, cos Abram and his wife got older and older and they had no children. They thought it was too late for them. And here was God telling them that the whole earth would be blessed because of their family! And that would turn out to be true. Abram DID have children. And he was the great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great grandfather of Jesus!
Pray: God, thank you that as we look forward to Jesus’ birth at Christmas, we’re remembering that you loved us enough to rescue us. Thank you that you used the most unlikely people along the way. Thank you that nothing is impossible for you.
