Once useless, now useful

New partners, The Onesimo Foundation have been integrating Picture Me process into their work with children from dump sites, streets and urban poor areas in and around Manila.

“Many times we were astonished how the process opened doors for deeper sharing and initiated a healing process. The children are undergoing follow up now. It is our hope that young children who were considered as ‘useless’ will be restored to be useful – to God, to their families, to their communities.”

Simon’s story
“Simon is 8 years old and lives under the bridge in Quiapo, Manila, with his mother and two siblings. He had been bullied and beaten by other children – and identified strongly with the picture card of the boy being provoked, and with the Bible story ‘Jesus and the Storm’. At the end of a Picture Me session he chose ‘the sleeping child’ pocket card, knowing that he is safe in the hands of God. Now, the bullying has lessened since he learned to just leave rather than make an argument. He really appreciates his pocket card; it helped him somehow to remember that God is helping him.”
