Working with trauma survivors

Crisis response

Crisis reports hit our television screens and newspaper front pages with sickening regularity: a natural disaster, a terrorist outrage or high school shooting occupies our minds. Appeals are launched, humanitarian aid agencies respond quickly and professionally, the world’s media are mobilised. And then, almost as suddenly as it appears, the crisis is gone from our screens and papers, leaving those most affected to rebuild their lives.

Working in partnership with aid organisations to ensure a holistic approach, fellow global family member SGM Lifewords' Picking up the Pieces and Who Cares About Me are two resources that have been designed to help trauma survivors talk about their feelings and experiences and to offer comfort and hope in God.

These booklets were specially created to be translated and printed rapidly following a crisis to help those involved in the immediate aftermath. They have already been used with families affected by the terrorist attack in Beslan, with survivors of the Asian tsunami, and an earthquake in Pakistan, equipping workers to minister to emotional and spiritual as well as physical needs.

In a crisis situation, rapid response is essential.

If you’d like the opportunity to donate to the crisis response programme, sign up for product update emails, and we'll highlight opportunities for you to get involved as specific needs arise. Thank you!
